Mark Heggie has been working with the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) , as a senior policy officer, for over four years and is currently leading on the implementation of SEPA´s requirements and duties under the Environmental Liability Directive.

Up until recently, he worked in SEPA´s Waste Policy Unit contributing to the development of policy, strategy and guidance for a wide range of topic areas however my main focus has been on Healthcare Waste and Hazardous/Special Waste.

Prior to joining the SEPA, he was the Waste and Environment manager for NHS Lanarkshire, one of Scotland´s largest NHS health boards. During this time he established and devised operational policies, safe working practices and audit procedures, developed and implemented waste segregation and minimisation policy and guidelines, for over 100 sites.

In addition to his roles within the public sector he has also spent time working in Environmental consultancy and the private sector.
